Thank you, yes, straw bales would be ideal where there is room, although
they are a bit of a stretch to reach over to harvest veggies. The small
attached room I am just now completing has insufficient room for
strawbales. The outside wall is masonry; the inside wall will have to be
fairly thin. But you have given me the idea of possibly using straw as
insulation and retaining substance if I build the hotbed frame out of, say,
fencing, for form. As the compost is built up within, the straw placed
against the wire would keep it in place while still allowing oxygen
movement.
