Culture Change (magazine review) part 1

The magazine "Auto_Free Times" has changed its
name and content somewhat and now calls itself
Culture Change. The first issue occurred in the
Fall of 2001.

This magazine is interesting and i like the
larger focus. The philosophy fits the idea that
problems can not be isolated by themselves and
everything is connected.

Over the next few days i plan to review some of
the articles and add comments. Starting with:

Page 11 has article titled "Failure to change
culture explained!"

This article tries to explain why the good
intentions of activists in the 60's had little
impact. They won a few battles but
  the bigger war was lost.

The article concludes that the activists
dropped out and fought individual battles
but failed to supply creative solutions that
fit todays world. It goes on to say the the
problems are difficult but we should face them
  with organized thinking.

For me this article opens up an important issue
but does not go deep enough. Is "creative thinking"
  and "organizing" enough?

I think we have to "become" the solution when possible.
It isn't enough to understand the problems or
propose solutions. We need to live the answers
or they will not happen. The next generation
needs models to follow, not philosophy, laws,
rules, or people who say one thing but do
  another.
