The boil and set technique should work with many different heat
sources.  I would add one additional comment  That would be to
consider ways to conserve the heat during boiling and while setting. 

Some other ways to cook rice are:
 1. On top of a car engine.  Strange but it works if one
     is traveling
  2. Inside a closed car on a hot day.  This works better
      for clothes drying or drying food.
  3.  On top of a house heating funace

I see where UTNE magazine gave the Bagelhole a plug (page 63).
This issue of UTNE had lots of positive ideas and is worth reading.
They have one article on sex and advertised it on the front cover.
This has caused our local librarians to create a betting game.  They
watch to see if the UTNE readers turn to the sex article or one of the
other articles.  So far you can guess the results <grin>.
