I wasn't thinking of running a server on eCos. I want use a few functions of the SFTP client, so I'm primarily interested in the libraries. I'm guessing that OpenSSH is implemented on top of OpenSSL and that if the OpenSSH library were ported, it would be straightforward to build a minimal SFTP client.
