I'm currently evaluating several translation packages for NT and would
appreciate any tips or comments that other users are willing to share
(either on the list or via email). I've narrowed the field to PaperFree's
Winmap, which I've used personally, TSI's Mercator, Sterling's GENTRAN,
Harbinger's TrustedLink, and SPS Commerce's eVision. The discussion about
handling large files has been most helpful as have other posts on the list.

ViTec converts paper claims to EDI files for insurance payor organisations.
In the process we offer a variety of value-adds that I'll refrain from
listing lest I come across as a sales droid, but I mention because we may
want to perform some of these in the translation process. The current
process is all proprietary, involves a lot of hard-coding, and is not easily
replicable when adding new trading partners. Scalability is one reason we
are looking at shelfware. The translator would have to read the claims from
a database, most likely SQL Server, but definitely some flavour of
odbc-compliant db. If, in the process, the translator has the ability to
call out to our proprietary DLLs that would be ever so nice.

Thanks in advance,
