We will have information for those just starting out in EC/EDI as well as a look to what's coming in the future. Please come whether you are new to the field or a seasoned veteran. 1:00-1:15 Networking and Socializing 1:15-1:20 Administrative Business 1:20-1:40 Rob Ugarte from A T & T will talk about EDI Value Added Networks (VANs) Rob has worked for A T & T for 10 years in EDI and messaging and has been an active member of the Roundtable for almost that long as well. Rob will talk about services traditionally provided by VANs, what to look for when selecting a VAN and how this traditional service fits into the Internet world today. 1:40-2:00 George Bieda from the Electronic Commerce Resource Center (ECRC) will speak on EC/EDI and what the government is looking at for the future. George has been with the Bremerton ECRC for over 5 years first as the Education and Training Director and recently as the Product Development Team Leader. George will be presenting new Electronic Commerce Initiatives in the Department of Defense. 2:00-2:20 Networking with refreshments provided by our corporate sponsors; The Boeing Company, Electronic Commerce Resource Center (ECRC), Lively & Partners Consulting Network (LPCN). 2:20-2:40 Rich Alaniz, an attorney with Black Lowe and Graham will present legal issues with Electronic Commerce Mr. Alaniz's practice emphasizes trademarks, copyrights, software licensing, and related client counseling. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Alaniz spent over 10 years in the data processing, computer and related technologies fields. During those 10 years, he held such positions as Marketing Director, Product Marketing Manager, Marketing Services Manager and Division Manager for a variety of high-tech companies. Mr. Alaniz is a frequent speaker to professional groups on technology and the law, teaching continuing legal education classes for the University of Washington School of Law, the King County Bar, the Washington Law Institute, and other professional education organizations. He is also active in state and local bar activities dealing with technological legal issues. He has published papers on topics including copyright, e-commerce, legal ethics and digital signatures. Mr. Alaniz also consults with other law firms on technology issues that include the use of technology ! ! to and the legal practice of evidentiary extraction.
