Purchase Card was just an example. The Purchase Card is a sub set of the
"card world" that has been in active existence since st least 1994/1995 if
not before. It allows a companyu to assign a card for purchase with a
variety of limits (around vendors, amounts, types of purchase, etc.) and
generates information back to the "owning company." This way less purchase
order paper is used. Many companies (large and small) use purchase cards
today and the major card issuers have purchase card efforts. It might be
worth your searching their sites if you have nore interest. In addition X12
Finance has a Purchae Card working group that has estab lished edi standards
around the use of purchase cards.
