Has anyone else experienced severe performance degredation and/or the
feeling that we've taken several steps backward with regards to the client
software with the C-S version of Sterling Gentran, particularly with the
trading partner maintenance utility?
If I launch the trading partner maintenance screen, it takes a painfully
long time to initialize. If I do anything during my work in the trading
partner maintenance screen that would somehow force a "refresh," it never
refreshes the display. It blanks out the display, and begins to rebuild
whatever it is that it's rebuilding. When it's finished, there's no
indication that it's finished. Instead, any windows brought in front of it
will retain an 'afterimage' on it (similar to the "cascading card" effect
when one wins a Solitaire hand.) If I were to simply press Enter with
the focus on the now-unusable window, I get the edit box for whatever
trading partner is highlighted (except that I can't, of course, see which
trading partner I'm editing.) Sometimes, it just locks the machine up.
There are other issues which speak more to usability than functionality, but
I could generally overlook them except for the bald fact that I cannot get
any work done with this state of affairs.
Sterling maintains it's an environmental issue with my PC. Other PCs in the
department have exhibited similar behavior. One consultant's PC locked up
with identical symptoms; he called Sterling tech support who informed him
that his was the first incident -- despite my open trouble ticket.
Has anyone else seen this icky behavior? It's obvious to me that it's a
memory leak of gargantuan proportions.
