The 857 is an 856, with the addition of data from an 810 at the order
(invoice header and trailer) and item (IT1 - usually just the unit
price). Only vendor i've seen use it is Black & Decker. I've got an IG
if you want to see one. It's a very efficient document, but can only be
created if the shipping and invoice data is created at the same time (or
from the same source.) If the item ships today and is invoiced next
week, and 857 is useless.
Hope this helps.
