Leda,
Why are you not considering TIE Commerce in this specific instance?
I know that they most definitely provide both NT and UNIX solutions
that may allow you to utilize the maps, interfaces and all the other
EDI overhead configurations that have been done within the existing translator?????
I have worked with MPE and you will have to redo the jobs that drive the
translator access and file manipulation on the new system either way, but
you may be able to at least cut that job down a bit if you can salvage the
existing maps and trading partner setups. I would at least check with TIE
first to see what they can do for you. If you already have, then never mind!!!
I feel for you in that the client is making a move without having a plan as to
where they are going. Knowing how decisions can be made within the
corporate structure, I wish you success. It's a BIG jump. MPE is out of the
stone age. I hate to admit that I'm one of the cavemen who actually used it
at one point in my career. Are they still using IMAGE?
Regards,
Mark

Subject: Looking to replace Tie Commerce EDI-Map /EDITRAN
I would like to request some input regarding a new EDI
translation software solution. I am in search of a
replacement for my clients current EDI system(Tie
Commerce EDIMAP/EDITRAN). I have been informed that
Tie Commerce will be dropping this product line within
a year.
The current environment runs on an HP3000 with the MPE
operating system. My client will be migrating off the
HP in the future so I am not restricted to an HP EDI
solution. We are considering an NT environment. I
would like to obtain any input on translation software
the EDI-List could recommend.
We are looking at Mercator this week.
Any input would be appreciated.
Leda S.
