Sure there are, but then you need to write your interface app to read
their file structure. For instance, the GE products will spit out a
standard file layout that looks like a flat version of EDI, with all of
the fields. If you're going to read and manipulate that, you might as
well read the EDI in your program. The whole idea of a translator is to
create your file layout from X12, XML, EDIFACT, SWIFT or whatever else
your partner throws at you. Your file is always the same coming from
the translator.
