Rachel, I took the "libery" of "crossposting" this to both lists (because I
can. :-{))

I joined the yahoo groups list in a fit of pique, I have to admit, but that
was before I saw Rich Hintz' and Steve Sullivan's rationale for the
moderation of the lists. That cooled me off a bit and I apologize to them
now for any thoughts I had, even though I never expressed them. :-{)

I'm sorry that edi-l has to end like this, and I hope nobody's going 'way
mad. However, the continuity of the list can continue with the yahoo groups
list, and I wanted to weigh in with my experiences.

I am a moderator of several groups and member of several more, and absent
the tagline you see after each of the posts, you will receive no ads at all.
I even have my in-laws signed up to this list as a convenience for emailing
people and I sure wouldn't want to expose my mother-in-law to any porno
ads...

As long as you exercise normal care of your address, you'll have no extra
spam. I have about 10 email 'personas' on the internet, that I use in
various ways to track whether or not any of them are 'spam generating.'
The two least spam-generating IDs are my yahoo groups ID (because all it is
is a link into the web interface of Yahoo groups) and my real POP mail ID,
since I don't give that to anybody.

You can rest easy, you shouldn't see any more spam because you got a Yahoo
ID for Yahoo Groups.
