He who designed and wrote the cobol driver created the rules for the output cards. Using the stock Mercator router/driver was too easy. If they got rid of Mercator to create all of the SWIFT documents, then we would have written even more (ugly) cobol code.
Mercator is a real natural at SWIFT mapping. Of course, none the Sterling products can handle the standard. Sorta like the way M handles idocs, knowwhatimean? Abercrombie & Fitch?
