Mike, Earl has an excellent point with this comment:

"I don't think it would be a good idea to plan your actions based on the
input
from X12 members only. In fact, you would be ignoring a much larger segment
of
your audience - the people who are _not_ currently members."

When you consider that the current roster of X12 members is about 356 and
the total number of users/implementers of the X12 standards is considerably
more, I would think it's long over due for X12 to solicit its customers
about customer satisfaction, etc. And of course, customers include not only
the end user/implementer but the solution vendors. As I'm sure you've
observed, many of the vendors that used to be members and actively
participated in X12 meetings no longer do.

I'm sure you recall the days of the Strategic Implementation Task Group!

Excellent. At least I'm reaching the correct people ;-)

> Your complaining about X12, while being an X12 consumer but not an X12
member, strikes me as being very similar to someone who pays taxes and
complains about the government, but yet won't bother to vote. That's what
bothers me.

I understand your irritation.

As a consumer, I certainly have the right to complain about X12 or any other

standards organization. (We could start a thread on AS2 Certification if
you
want..)

I don't think it would be a good idea to plan your actions based on the
input
from X12 members only. In fact, you would be ignoring a much larger segment
of
your audience - the people who are _not_ currently members.

I'll answer your analogy with the following: I DO pay taxes and I DO
complain
about the government. I am also one of the founding members of a Provincial

Political Party that had 4 candidates elected and I've run as a candidate in
3
Federal Elections (I'm in Canada, so we don't have States here).

I certainly don't believe in complaining about things that I have no control

over. Think of me as a private lobby group ;-)

PS: Don't forget to vote next week!
