In my ten+ years of contract mapping development, capturing partner (almost always 'customer partner') info from inbound documents for use on related outbound documents (invoices, ASNs, PO Acknowledgements, etc) has been a major part of the work I do for clients, regardless of ERP system in use. I have worked with a couple of systems (e.g., MAPICS (formerly Point.Man), SDI's PRISM) which provide within the application an explicit 'parking place' for turnaround data; but I've also worked with some (e.g., Macola, older) where I've had to invent something. Jockey's Ms. Krause (from my own backyard, so to speak) has given you a specific suggestion you can pass on to your vendor for use with his particular ERP system. As the customer, you are in a really good position here...but instead of taking advantage of the opportunity to play 800-pound-gorilla, I hope you set a really good example of what it means to be a 'partner' with your vendor and work with him.
