Hi,

Pls do consider that consultants many be also specialised in other fields
not only
with Gentran Tool. Since I am very newly working with this tool, hence the
below
query was highlighted.

Pls do think before providing any details. As to say no one is perfect with
the subject.

Thanks and Regards,
Bindu

Subject: [EDI-L] Re: Gentran Server - Interchanges/Indrawer/Outdrawer

I'd like to add that "consultants" who are asking the type of
questions referred to below are giving EDI professionals a bad name.
When you hire a consultant who is supposedly versed about the
product for which they were hired, I would think that they should at
least know the basics about that product. I have seen many questions
that are truly entry-level questions about Gentran server in
particular that have been posted by people saying that they are
consultants working on a project.

As a victim of outsourcing (who was asked by the company I worked
for to train the "consultants" who were going to replace me), I am
appalled at the level of knowledge that these outsourcing firms
have. No wonder they charge a quarter of what the knowledgeable
professionals do. Even then, they are still over charging because
these "consultants" have only one tenth the knowledge (if that!).

And for those who are not "consultants", I see that you have 2
choices for these types of questions:

1) Actually contact the support line of the appropriate company
2) Investigate it yourself and do the work so that you educate
yourself further in the process. After all, knowledge is power.

Just an early morning, coffee-deprived, snow storm induced rant!
