Being Canadian is irrelevant. We trade with the same partners, using the same
VANS and providers.

HIPAA consists of 3 requirements (Privacy, Transactions & Security). The whole
process continues to be relevant to this community.
My comments were specifically about the government involvement in Industry
Standards, and how (in my opinion) that was a very bad idea.

Do _you_ have an opinion on HIPAA?

I am _still_ looking for something that says that a 'not for profit' has to
give something to charity. Most Charities are not-for-profit, but there are
thousands of other non-charitable organizations that act as 'not for profits'.

I'm sure that it's a rhetoric question, but:
EDI - It's great. Keeps me very busy and greases the wheels of commerce.
X12 - Works fine. As some wag pointed out: "The best thing about standards is
that there are so many to choose from".
EDIFACT - I had one client using it. Mostly European. X12, EDIFACT, whatever.
ebXML - mostly useless. They forgot to include real examples of business
documents and delayed the introduction of XML by years.
UBL - don't know enough to comment about ;-)
