I've used the first 3 on your list and can reinforce John and Art's comments My first choice (of the 3 I know) would be Softshare. Great product at any price - it's a very good deal for what you pay. I currently use ProEDI, which was the 2nd choice among my recommendations a few years ago. We've got it because my company is resolutely unix-based and it's the only reasonably priced unix translator I've found. I guess MapForce could be attractive to you if you're _really_ into XSLT. Our experience has been that it takes longer to develop and maintain maps than the other tools, but as always, YMMV. I don't know much about the last 3, but for a Windows environment, I'd start with Softshare at the top of the list.

We deal with the EDIFACT standard and the tool should work on Windows environment. We are looking for a product, not a third party service. I have been doing some google-ing and searches on this list's archives, so far I have found references to (haven't tested any): -Altova MapForce (which is expensive) -Softshare Delta -Pro EDI -Etasoft Extreme Translator -B-data Ediware client -DataWatch Monarch data pump I would like to know if someone has used any of these products or knows about other products I could check out. The reason we are looking for an alternative to Mercator is because of the high license costs incurred when creating every new map. Also, along the lines of this research I have found the terms "Translation tools" & "Mapping tools" used indistinctly in some places whether not in others, which could be the main difference between these terms? Thanks a lot, David Pinzon ..
