Global Commerce Systems, Inc. (GCS) is actively pursuing additional
contract staff to fill two positions within the Middleware/EDI
Technical Support team at the U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
national data center in northern Virginia. These are long-term, on-
site contract positions. Candidates will be required to pass a
thorough background investigation (BI) before being able to access
Customs' systems. Candidates will be able to work on-site during
which time the BI is being conducted. Disqualifying demerits would
include a criminal history, prior bankruptcies, or any
situation/behavior that would otherwise suggest potential target for
corruption.

CBP is in the process of ramping up the deployment of WDI 3.2 in the
zOS mainframe environment. Immediate needs feature bi-direction XML
to EDI mapping and translation. Candidates for these positions
should have at least 5 years experience supporting real-time EDI
processing systems. Experience supporting WDI 3.2 is a must. DB2,
CICS, and MQ Series skills are a plus.

The Washington, DC metropolitan area is a national stronghold for the
IT field. The presence of the federal government and the substantial
amount of Homeland funding for post-9/11 initiatives will further
solidify the area as virtually recession-proof. Approximately 75% of
all personnel working at the CBP data center are contract personnel.
GCS offers a highly competitive compensation package featuring paid
time off, medical and dental benefits.
