I would imagine it depends on what you're using the 855 FOR. If you're using it as a true 'order acknowledgement' then it's my opinion that you should send it using input from your order management system, after the order's been created.
Otherwise, you're blindly accepting the order without knowing whether you'll be able to fulfill it. Too, if there are some variances (you can't ship X number of cases, you need to ship X-50) this would then be reflected on the acknowledgement so your customer can react to it. Depending on your trading partner agreement, your acceptance of the order could have contractual teeth behind it, too -- which means you could be setting yourself up for a problem if you blindly accept an order without checking first to see if you can execute.
