(This didn't appear to come through yesterday when I sent it; I never
received it anywyay. So, I apologize if you've already received it.)

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone would replied and pass on that each
of you hit upon the problem in one way or another. It turns out that it
was, in fact, bad data! Intermittently, I am receiving NULL characters
inside of a text area that is stopping the sort action. However, my
troubleshooting technique was a little lacking!

I was using a shell script that rewrites the "xlate" file after stripping
off the Queue Key/Event Name from the beginning of each record and then
submits the resulting file for outbound translation. This always worked the
second time around, so I didn't suspect any data issues. But, I guess when
the bad record got rewritten, the NULL character was removed.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I became frustrated with my inability to
fix it! So I copied each one of the original files that were contained in a
failed translation over to our test system and kicked off the outbound
translator. It failed in exactly the same place! After a quick
investigation of the data, I discovered the culprit!

Thanks again for all your great advice and maybe next time, I'll listen a
little more closely!
