I am very familiar with thermal transfer printers,  like Zebra.  Initially
this client will do very low volumes, and unable to justify the cost of a
Zebra, but hopefully this will change in the future.

We use Label Matrix or Label View.  Teklynx (the writers of Label View)
bought 
Label Matrix, so that both products are now owned by the same company.

LaserJet labels are probably the most expensive way to print.  It's ok for a

small volume, but Thermal Transfer printers (Zebra, TEC) are better with
large 
volumes.

I can email you the JCP templates for Label Matrix, if you want.
