I need your help to understand where ( segment/element/QUA)
EPC ( electronic product code) is used in 856-ASN .
EPC is a part of RFID and I understand it is also a part of GTIN (
correct me if I am wrong) . EPC is a unique number which defines
the each quantity of the product .
UPC defines the entire product. Ex. one UPC will define one model of
Sony TV and if the line item has 10 quantities of that UPC, each
will have it's own EPC, so there will be 10 EPCs for one UPC. This
is my understanding about the EPC.
I need to create 856 test data which will have EPC #. Following are
my questions.
* Which segment/element/qua. should I use to define EPC ?
* Which level should I define EPC pack or Item ?
According to my understanding explained above, it should be in
the item level in LIN segment ( I did not find suitable qua.)
but MAN segment in pack level has RFID info with SI qua. in the
X12 standard. Now I am confused.
* Do I need UPC and EPC both or should I substitute UPC with EPC
and use same qua. ( UP) or may be "UK" in LIN .
* Do I need another level beyond Item level to define EPCs ?
