Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I am using Inovis with a slightly customized script for the secure log in. The
log in part works fine. And the problem is only on receive. It is
intermittent but today is exceedlingly bad. I connect every half hour and I've
logged 23 errors so far today. I haven't lost any files, my system tries and
usually succeeds on the first retry and picks up where it left off.

I've been told by GXS that it might have something to do with the fail over
machine and may be corrected when they switch back to the primary. But to
Mike's point, my software isn't "certified" by GXS to work with secure ftp so
they can't help me much trying to trouble shoot the problem if that doesn't
correct it.

Tim,
I've had comm issues multiple times in the past with GXS. It may be
related or not, but is a known issue with GXS . It basically boils down
to this. One of their systems I forget which is on a mainframe and
their implementation of TCP/IP isn't totally compliant. FTP sessions
have two connections a data and control port. GXS purges mailboxes on
Sundays. On a high volume mailbox basically when you do a list or
retrive command on a mailbox with alot of contents say on a friday or
saturday it takes the mainframe intermittently more than a minute
threshold to respond and TCP/IP timeouts. One minute is the threshhold
set for the RFC. There are a couple of workarounds one of which was to
put less volume through the mailbox :). Another is to move your
mailbox to one of their ASCII systems, but you will have delimiter
issues to contend with for a while.

-Steve
