We use RF Symbol Scanners, wherehouse access points and RFGen software linked
to a homegrown SQL backend.

Yes. Multiple things, depending on client requirements.

One client has a bunch of Symbol P360/P470 batch scanners. They scan the
orders as they are picked and then dump the data & print a PackingSlip. The
system exports the scanned information to a file that gets invoices by their
  Accounting system (Acomba).

One client has a few Unitech batch scanners for Inventory. They count their
stuff once a year, download the data & compare it to their computerized
  inventory.

Some have very expensive (it's all relative) WMS systems that have RF
scanners,
  linked to their shipping systems.

Inventory scanning is a bit vague. Give us more information, and I'm sure
that
there are lots of people here with different solutions.
