The only time going that the cost of AS2 is 'ridiculous' is when having to
deal with a Drummond Group Certified provider and when your partner insists
on DCG-only solutions. The added cost of getting their nod ups the price of
a rather otherwise 'free' public protocol.

Softshare's ECS is 110% AS2-capable and there is no additional costs or
licensing issues to adding a new As2 TP.
Unless your partner insists on DCG here's one solution that won't break the
bank!

You forgot to mention that the iSoft AS2 software was a special for WalMart
ONLY. Many companies are feeling 'sticker-shock' when inquiring about
adding
another AS2 TP. We even have some people who can't justify adding AS2 TPs
due
to the outrageous licensing & setup costs.

Depending on volume, I don't see the VAN/AS2 connection being cheaper OR
faster.
AS2 means that you have a direct secure connection between you and your TP.
No
VAN charges, no interconnect, no 3rd party between you and your TP.

I agree that direct AS2 may not be the best solution. You need a dedicated
machine, which is on 24/7. You need AS2 software which ranges in price from
expensive to ridiculous. You need to maintain & connect to multiple
servers.
You need a reliable internet connection.

I don't agree with this part for the reasons stated above.

Some of our clients have already saved thousands of $$$ per year, by
switching
from VAN to AS2.

YMMV - You Mileage May Vary ;-)
