Hey Earl:

You may be right for the AS2 software you use,
however, for some AS2 software, you configure both
ends of the addressing when setting up a trading partner
relationship.
In other words, the sending and receiving ports can be different.

i.e. I tell Walmart to send to http://www.vendorxxx.com:5080
and Walmart tells me to send to http://walmart.xxx.com:4080
and neither of us care what port does the sending as this info
is part of the AS2 software setup. Or, perhaps, your new TP
does not have that capability.

Cheers,
-Paul

|
|No. Their outbound ports become my inbound ports. I can tell
|them that my
|server is at http://127.0.0.1:9584 but they will just tell me
|to go fish ;-)
|PS: Port 9584 is from an AS2 Hub that we are in production with...

|
|Only if my inbound partners agree. This one does not.
|

|
|That would be wrong. All servers have to be configured to
|'listen' on a
|particular port. Most times, these are defaults (Web, Email,
|SSH, Telnet,
|etc...)
|AS2 recommends a few ports, but you can actually use almost any other.
|Ex. pcAnywhere uses 5631 & 5632. If you want additional pcAny
|sessions, you
|have no choice but to use other ports...
|
|If I already have an AS2 server listening on port 8001, then
|something sent to
|9080 will be ignored.
|
|We _have_ found 2 possible solutions, depending on the client setup.
|1) run multiple server sessions, each listening on a different port.
|2) configure the router to forward the incoming AS2 to the
|port which is being
|used by the server.
|
|thanks for everyone's input...
