Hello folks, I wanted to reply to a to a question I received in my
email this morning publicly because I sure that more than a few of
you my be pondering the same question.

Question: "May I ask why you are using this forum to promote another
one? There are a lot of people on EDI-L and it has taken years to
build the membership list. I understand you need to promote traffic
to your website or to your forum, however, EDI-L is a highly
populated."

Our answer: we are not so much trying to advertise a forum as we are
trying to get the word out about a resource center. A forum platform
just happens to be the best way to accomplish our goal of true
community updated content without having to develop a program from
scratch. We built this because myself and a few other fellow
consultants needed a central place to house information central to
our jobs as EDI professionals that could be kept up to date by the
entire community. A good example would be: you go to the resource
center to find out the vendor link URL to Lowes, you click on the
link to just find out that it’s no longer any good. At that point you
do a little research to find out the correct URL, once you have the
correct URL you can just update the link by posting a reply that
hopefully will save a few other poor soles from having to go through
the same process.

Now why are we sharing it with you? In short we can only do so much
and posses only so much information at any one point in time. If you
find out something or say receive an 864 about JCPenney making a
change to a qualifier; post a short summary of it in the notices and
news section, someone will be thankful you did. As the old saying
goes, "There is true knowledge in numbers". We have no desire to take
anything away from EDI-L because we also are long standing members
here that look forward to the nightly updates.

Sincerely,
Stephen
