All 850s are NOT equal. We have many clients in the Retail Distribution industry. A WalMart ship direct to Store PO is a lot different from a bulk shipment to a DC. JCPenney routinely sends hundreds of POs, since they generate a single PO for each store. Many Chain stores do NOT supply the ShipTo location, so the EDI system has to have a routing guide to be able to split the incoming SDQ (multi-store) PO into multiple ASNs. I would even add that the EDI with the same TP can be simple or very complicated, depending on the line of business. Ex. Direct to Store vs Bulk to DC vs Online Retailing vs Big Ticket - all are different ;-) If a client comes to me and says that they get a single replenishment PO per week, with a small number of cartons on the Shipment, then a web-based solution may be best. We have clients who do regular EDI with most TPs, but still get their WalMart POs online from RetailLink. That's because they get 1 or 2 big orders per month with no ASNs required, and setting up an AS2 connection may take a bit of time. > I only have 2 trading partners. I don't expect this to increase. Do you want to rate VANs, Service Bureaus, Translator software? > If you were in the selection process, how would you rate a company's > ability? What criteria would you use? Price, Support, Flexibility, Reliability - not necessarily in that order ;-) I have one client who installed a new ERP system but is keeping our EDI system primarily because it can build their pallet shipments. > If this is not the appropriate place for this question, please suggest > a place where I could post this. It's a good place. You just have to be a bit clearer about what you are looking for... Earl Wertheimer [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.spe-edi.com ------------------------ Yahoo!
