Not to defend a lame question. but if you are going from NT to UNIX there is a
bit of difference in how you "Register" objects. The workstation is connected
to the server with wires with Unix and NT. On NT it uses strictly an ODBC
interface that works via TCPIP. On Unix the client is nothing more than a
Widget running on a Linux hack connecting via TCPIP and no ODBC. So registering
an object never occurs because you check it in. That is why my email originally
asked what OS which version. Also on UNix if you are using the VM Wapper it is
a different process altogether. Thinking beyond the windows box you sometimes
can find a deeper question. Still RTFM is the best way and the online support
isn't all that bad.

Some of these questions are just too much. Come on, dude. Break the
spine on the reference book and give it a try. Even better, most of the new
docs are on PDF. Search for the key word you are looking for. Hmmm...
"compile map". Maybe.
You bring the scorn on yourself when you act like you've got it all
together and then turn around and ask a question like that one. Key phrase:
soft-skills.
Take Care,
