Thanks all. I'll go with "R" if no TSs (AK2 loop) were either "A" or "E"

In context.... I am adding a function to the EDI Pal(tm) ANSI ASC X12
Viewer-Editor-Printer software. This function is "Create
Functional Acknowledgements".

I bring up a screen with all the TS's in the input file, and the user can check
"Accept", "Accept with errors", 'Reject" or "No
Acknowledgment" for each. Then they browse for or type an output file name,
then click the 'do it' button. I create fully-enveloped
interchanges containing the 997s. User can then do whatever he wants
(presumably, send to the partner!).

In all honesty, anyone who is going to generate his 997s this way no doubt is
also going to click the "Accept All" button
anyway...and the AK9 totals should eliminate any doubts on the recipient end.

As I said, 'a tad esoteric'.

But you probably weren't expecting me to ask an "EDI 101" question anyway.
