Well, perhaps something like Realtors have, where they agree to a certain set
of standards and ethics. But then you'd have to have a whole bunch of office
workers, training, certification programs, etc., so that you could develop
those standards. Then marketers to say "Hey we're such and such organization
and you should hire us because we have standards and won't screw you or our
members" etc. Then you'd have to get the consultants/consulting firms to buy
into it.

Sounds like a lot of work when you can find someone whom you trust and work out
an agreement between the two of you to support the others' clients when each of
you are on vacation, as well as agree not to try to steal each other's clients.

Like Michael says, one man shops run those risks unless they want to form a
consulting firm or a management firm.

I believe they do and are called "consulting firms" or "management firms."
(Said he, himself a one-man shop with some of the same concerns).

Seriously, this is something any user should consider when selecting a
consulting/manageme nt/administratio n 'entity,' either in-house or
outsourced.

That said, I could be interested in joining some kind of professional
association.
