I think what IBM wants is to only support Mercator in an edi enviroment in
a Websphere setting. If you have Commerce Broker, you either buy Websphere
(no upgrade path or pricing available) or go get another translator
product. I've been
through three "our way or the highway" deals in the last three months,
and each time
the customer opted to dump and replace. At a very large price. The
attitude that IBM
has is worse than what Ascential had. IBM just doesn't care about the
small and mid-sized
customers. It's very sad. And whomever is doing the pricing must be
doing some real
nice pharmaceuticals, because these prices are in the clouds. You can
go price WTX on
the IBM website. Go. Get sticker shock. It's really sad.

The other side of this story is that there aren't jobs out there for
us. And, if there are no
new sales, there won't be any more new jobs. It's time to learn a new
product and to
move on. Maybe webMethods?
