Walter -

These comments only pertain if you are using TLi. We upgraded our maps
from 4010 to 4030 several years ago, so my memory is a bit vague.
However, I believe that we used Save As to save an existing 4010 map as
a 4030 map, and I believe that the TLi software produced a report
indicating any exceptions, i.e., 4010 mapping details that could not be
positively reproduced in the 4030 map. The process was pretty painless,
but I know we still arranged to receive some test transactions before
moving the new maps to production. If you are occasionally bringing new
trading partners on-line, you could use that process as an opportunity
to test the new maps, given that you will need to do testing anyway.

I hope this helps.

If you're using TLE (or even TLW, I think) it's possible to change the
version in no more than a few steps. However, you may not want to do
that. In addition to the other considerations noted, as stable as the
X12 EDI standards are there may actually have been some changes in at
least one of these transaction sets from 004010 to 005010. I advise
checking to see. If any have changed you'll also have to update your
maps for the changed segments and elements.
