Additionally, it may depend on your industry, or partner expectations.
Real-time responses are quite different from batch.

Subject: Re: [EDI-L] Service Level Agreements

Tracy,

Your SLA is going to depend on your end user's needs and your trading
partners' (read CUSTOMER'S, you know, those 800 lb gorrillas that pay your
company) requirements. In other words, if you're
going to get fined $10,000 if your ASN is late, I'd say you'd better
make sure it's not late. Or, if your customer delays payment to the
next "cycle" if your invoice isn't correct, you'd better get it in
correctly and by their deadline. If you're going to miss out on a discount
at your supplier if your 830/850 isn't in to them by some agreed upon
timeframe, again, you'll cost your company money if your system is the cause
of the delay (and don't fool yourself, EDI is always to blame!). This
applies to both up time of your
server and app as well as error resolution.

Ask your users what specific requirements their customers have (and then
double check with the customers).

Suppliers generally take whatever you give them, but do be aware of any
down stream impact to your customers if supplier EDI is messed up or
delayed.

Good Luck,

Leah Halpin

Subject: [EDI-L] Service Level Agreements

Does anyone currently provide EDI-related SLAs to their end
users? If

so, what aspects of EDI do you cover in the SLA(s)? What steps did

you take to create the SLA? Would you be willing to share a sample?

Thanks for any input!

Tracy
