Hi Carl:

The EDI guides for Walmart includes all of their holdings, Sams,
Wal-mart.com, etc. So the short answer to your question is yes.

However, certain segments may or may not apply. It depends upon the
agreement that has been established between you and their buyer....SAC segments
is a good example.

Wal-mart also has an on-line testing tool where you can down load samples.
These however, are generic and may not match the agreement.

   Good luck to you.

Regards
-Rita Parrott

You may have to use the "sudo" utility. http://www.gratisoft.us/sudo/

What exactly are you trying to do? If you give us your scenario, maybe
we can suggest an easier solution.

Try using this echo "PASSWORD" | sudo -S somecommand

There are other alternatives given at
http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-42593.html
<BLOCKED::http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-42593.html>

I'm not sure if Unix has sudo, I used it in Linux.

Steve,

I am a AIX shop as you and checked with our sys admins and sudo
utility does exist. You just need to make sure that the account you
sudo from is a master account so it can sudo into the other account.
The gratisoft website is a good repository to use for this purpose.
Good luck.

We have a client who we need to set up for EDI on Walmart.com.
Does anyone know if the EDI requirements are the same for walmart.com as
opposed to regular walmart?
Anyone know what transactions are mandatory?
Is AS2 mandatory?

Thanks,

All my clients ship directly to Walmart DCs or Stores.

Most do NOT require ASNs, but some do. I think it's related to what you are
selling - Hard goods vs Soft goods.
The label is NOT a standard UCC-128.

If walmart.com wants you to ship direct to client, then you'll probably need
something different.

All this info is available on RetailLink (which your client should have access
to)..

With Walmart.com the orders are shipped directly to the customer, so are the
ucc128 and 856 required?
I have a client who is doing EDI with (regular) Wal-Mart and they are only
trading and 850 and 810. That is why I am wondering what is mandatory and
what is optional.

I am currently setting up a client for Walmart.com.. a client who is
currently already doing "regular" Walmart (ship to DC or store)

For Walmart DOT COM everything is different. Different implementation guides
(based on different ANSI standards), different busiiness rules re 855 Order
Acknowledgments, extensive redundancy requirements, additional requirement
for some non-ANSI ASC X12 file exchange (not via AS/2, you get choice of
https or secure FTP) , packing slips require UCC-128 encoded items printed
thereon, some differences between "ship direct to customer" and "ship to
store" orders (This "ship to store" is NOT the same as the 'regular' ship to
store or DC, this is an option WITHIN walmart.com)

Fortunately there is more or less complete documentation for all available
from Walmart.

Just what you wanted to hear, I assume?

If not that, surely what you needed to know?

I've previously used Foresight's EDISIM to create EDI Implementation

guides?

Thanks!

Mary Ellen,

I have used SpecBuilder in the past at a previous company and I liked
the software and thought it was fairly easy to use.

I normally stay away from product recommendations but will make an
exception in this case as I really like this tool.

GEFEG has a product called GEFEG.FX that support you in developing,
documenting and testing data formats for the electronic exchange of
business documents.

They make available a guided tour at <http://www.gefeg.com/en/
gefeg.fx/request.htm>.

Hi Mary,
Personally, I'm a huge fan of Foresight EDISIM and have been for more than a
decade now. Having once seen a demo of 'another package', I'm in the right
place.

I am looking at the P&G and General Mills EDI ASN 856 layout and it
looks like (for SOTPI) there is no summary figure of number of pallets.

I had asked P&G about this months ago and they said there is no such
thing and you'd have to take the difference between lading quantity
and the sum of all SN102 at pack/item level quantities - which makes
no sense as I wouldn't think the lading quantity would include pallets.

Just checking but it looks like if I want to know the number of
pallets on a delivery I'd need to count the number of HL or MAN
segments in an 856. Plus I'd also know exactly what product was on
each pallet

Thanks,
Walter

My policy is usually to give them what they want, and only argue if it's going
to cost a lot of money to implement ;-)

They don't want it? Don't send it...

(and I haven't done any SOTPI ASNs yet.... just SOTI or SOPI )
