HenkJen,

It was stated in another post above, but your best bet would be to
allow the separators and/or terminators be set at the trading partner
level. As has been stated in many other posts on other subjects (such
as the PACK level of an ASN), there are different requirements for
different users. Some will prefer to have asterisks (*), some will
use the tilde (~) and others will use a hyphen (-) and even others
will.... Well, you get the point....

And it's not only "**BIG RETAILERS**" that are forcing the use of
certain characters or ________ as terminators and separators.... it's
just about ANY trading partner that is providing the spec. Generally,
they're requiring the use of * or ~ or - because that's how they've
got it set in their system (for a reason, sometimes!) and any document
that does not meet those term/sep character requirements will
generally fail.

As has also been mentioned, some TPs will use special characters in
their own internatl style numbers or what-have-you and so the use of
that character outside of their style number or ____ will cause the
document to fail.... A former retailer I worked with used to use the
hyphen as part of it's SKU (format was 100-99999 - with the
department/class set as the first 3 digits then the hyphen and then
the actual SKU number for the item itself - and yes, they would use
the same 5 digits across all departments/classes - could cause some
confusion, let Me tell you!)....
