Oh Craig, I just wish that other retails were as enlightened as you and the
BIG 5 team. Unfortunately there are retailers out there who's motto is it's
our way or you are going to pay dearly for it. I dealt with a client once
who, before they started using our software, had finally stopped selling to
a major US retailer because the charge backs were worth more than the
products they were selling. That type of relationship is not a partnership
it's a dictatorship, which is supposedly illegal here in North America. You
have no idea how much I enjoy reading your posts and seeing that there are
retailers out there who actually get it, that not everyone has a
multi-million dollar system that butters your toast for you. Some of these
vendors are small mom and pop shops that are incurring major costs due to
the ridiculous requirements of some vendors. I agree very much with you. As
long as you get the info that you need, what difference does it make if a
little extra info is in the documents being sent? If there is something that
a vendor needs to do, or can not do, why not work together to find a
solution that is mutually beneficial. After all, if your vendors refuse to
sell a product to you, that they will sell to everyone else, how does that
affect you as a retailer? Again Craig, bravo.

Then one just has to wonder if you do more than listen - if action
then comes from that listening.... and that if you talk back, if
action is then taken on their side, as well..
And by "you" in the above, I do not imply just YOU, Richard Hurd, but
a very general and generic you that encompasses all of US.....
Partnership IS, after-all - a two way street.... it's like any
relationship we have in our lives - be it romantic, business,
parental, sibling.... there is a give and take on both sides... but
one member of the partnership has more - dare I say it - POWER or
CONTROL in the relationship than the other... one is, afer all, in the
driver's seat.... and I'm sure we can all see where the concept of
two drivers, one vehicle will end up...? Either in the ditch or in
the wall or around that big, ol' tree....
