Hmmm... interesting concept... I just checked my 4010 standards and I am
unable to find anything to support you, Ron.. sorry.
But knowing UPS (I, deal with their 210s) I know that they drop the name
(N1) data after a very brief time to "save space on their system" (as it
was explained to me). I, too, get N1 segments with "NA" and nothing else,
or no N1/N2/N3/N4 data for a shipment, especially if it's an adjustment
(one would think that UPS would know who they delivered a package to,
wouldn't you?)
Of all my other implementations I've seen over the past 14 yrs of working
with EDI, I can't recall an N2 without an N1 also being sent... but
that'll get you noplace in a hurry.. sorry.
Can you make the N1 optional in your translator?
