Rahul,

You might as well ask how to eat an apple without consuming any fruit. GXS
is a VAN. If you want to pick up X12 from them, then you would connect to
the VAN, where the X12 would be waiting for you.

If you want to pick up X12 sent to GXS without contracting with GXS as your
VAN, then you have many choices. Nearly all VANs interconnect, that is to
say, if you subscribe to the services of another VAN, e.g. Sterling, Inovis,
or my favorite, Softshare, then have that VAN retrieve messages sent to you
by somebody who subscribes to GXS as their VAN (or any other VAN, for that
matter), the interconnect system will result in your X12 and EDIFACT traffic
being forwarded to the VAN to which you subscribe.

It's kind of like email. Your friend uses MSN.com to send you an email, and
MSN knows to forward your email to TransactionExchange.com for you to read
it. So, if your trading partner uses GXS and you use XYZ, then XYZ notifies
GXS to send all your traffic, identified by your ISA sender/receiver ID, to
them at XYZ and they place it in your mailbox.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [EDI-L] GXS connectivity

Hi All,

Does any one know how to attain connectivity with GXS without using a VAN.
I'd like to connect to GXS on behalf of my client and import POs (and export
ASNs and Invoices). I can generate the required Identifier for my client -
but how do I connect to GXS and pick-up/deposit the relevant X.12 documents?

Thanks in advance.
Rahul Naik.
