Elan,
Your question has opened an interesting conversation on the following topics: EDI 856 compliance As others have stated, you must comply with the specification laid out by your customer. Many times a customer will have multiple formats, i.e. SOTI, SOPI, SOTIP, etc. The specifications may vary by supplier type (hard line vs. apparel), location (domestic vs. international) or other criteria. An understating of the customer specifications and communicating with the EDI compliance coordinator should clarify your requirements. Container Marking The customer normally will have requirements container marking. These markings assist in the logistics and distribution process. These marking include: ship from / to address, PO information, item #, quantity, GTIN, license plate (SCC18) and others. The customer can require some of this information to be encoded in bar codes and / or RFID chips. This is normally covered in the EDI and packaging requirements. How can the supplier benefit? The customer requirements outlined above can be expensive to implement. EDI with a UCC-128 / ASN module is an investment. Properly configured, this investment can produce a quick ROI. Finding ways to improve efficiency, lower / eliminate charge back and reduce costs is paramount to realize this return. _______________________________________________ Regards, Todd LaBonte Phone: 231-933-7212 Fax: 231-933-7236 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.e-supplylink.com e-SupplyLink . exceptional Supply Chain Solutions _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of elan_dorsey Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 3:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [EDI-L] Questinon on UCC-128 labels/EDI 856 for pallet-level shipping Hello Everyone; I'm doing an EDI integration for EDI856 and UCC-128 labels for retail. We ship to a customer using pallets. For example, the customer wants 60 cases and wants it packed 20 cases per pallet giving 3 pallets shipped. When generating the EDI856, do we need to generate 60 UCC-128 labels for each case and 3 pallet labels, with the pallet referencing the ucc- 128 label for each case.
