Perhaps I am not understanding, but why not use the GS? Or are you talking
about copying the 3PL and/or carrier (I can't quite tell which end of this
you're on) on an ASN being sent to the customer? In which case, you only need
one sender/receiver, the data content will tell the tale. Or are you talking
about logistic documents, 210 - ish transactions? Maybe the 3PL is doing
sequencing and they need a copy of the 866?

I'm not really sure if you're talking about three entities or two? A third
party logistics company, a separate carrier and a customer? Or is one of the
first two the "customer". Strange, because I thought 3PL's and carriers are
usually vendors, rather than customers (at least for EDI purposes).

Depending on exactly what you're trying to do, there may be several solutions,
and I'll guarantee you, they are all easier and more elegant that setting up
numerous ISA combinations to get data to and from the same two places.

Subject: [EDI-L] EDI Between a 3PL and a Carrier (Multiple ISA Sender/Receiver
pairs)

I'm working with a company that is trying to find the simplest way to on-board
a

fair amount of carriers via EDI.

The problem we are running into is that for a given carrier the 3PL uses, there
are multiple customers the 3PL manages (shipper) "one to many relationship".
We

are currently setting up a unique pair between the
carrier/3PL-Shipper(Customer)

combination. That means the carrier will have multiple ISA Sender/Receiver IDs
for this 3PL based on the number of customers (shippers) the 3PL uses that
carrier for.

I'm not looking to steal any secret sauce, but I'm wondering if anyone has a
more elegant solution they may have used.

Thanks,
John
