This is an SAP question and would be better addressed in one of the SAP forums.

But I can make a stab at it. If the incoming ORDCHG is updating the PO in SAP,
or if the order is being changed manually, a record of the data that was
changed is stored in the change document database. Change pointers can be set
up in the ALE IMG to automatically generate IDocs thru program RBDMIDOC
whenever a change is recorded to particular fields within an order.

Now whether or not that would set any change flags in the generated IDoc would
be a matter for testing but the Action field of header segment E1EDK01
does contain qualifiers that flags changes to the header or item.

If your flags are not automatically set thru this change process, you may need
to write a little user exit code when your ORDRSP is generated after a change.
I’ve done this with the outbound Bill of Materials, using IDoc BOMMAT, where I
had to identify changes in the change document database and record them in
custom segments before exporting the IDoc. This stuff is not very difficult to
do but you need to know ABAP. Good luck.

Hi Sven,
Is this a trick question? You received an ORDCHG, that means there was a
change. Or are you asking how to tell a "change" response ORDRSP from another
type of ORDRSP? I've not used these, so I can't tell you, but I was wondering
which question you were asking.

The answer will lie within SAP, though, this is an ERP function, not an EDI
one. Or at least it shouldn't be.

Leah

Subject: [EDI-L] POCA message with SAP backend

Hi all,
I have a customer that is asking us to send a Purchase order change
acknowledgement message (basically an Edifact
ORDRSP with change indicators) for each ORDCHG they send us. We set up
ORDRSP IDocs in SAP for this customer
and enabled ORDRSP change messages ("change message" checked in WE20)
however the ORDRSP that gets
generated on order changes (e.g. VA02) does not carry any change flag. Any
idea how I will be able to tell if any
changes have been made in the order?

Thanks & best regards
Sven
