Hi Leah –

Your model is commonly used in automotive manufacturing, but high-tech, retail
and communications commonly use an 850 with 855 and/or 865’s.

Just a couple of pennies from me. Manufacturing does not commonly use the PO
(850) in this fashion. Forecasts (830/DELFOR) are sent, then shipping
schedules (862/DELJIT). Everyone has plenty of time to know what they need and
prepare for it, it's all part of JIT, you can't run that on PO's. This is, of
course a simplification for general illustration.

Hi -

Technically speaking, in X12, the first acknowledgement should be an 855,
then subsequent changes should be 865's. That being said, I've seen
customer that want all acks to be 855's. SAP can be configured to generate
multiple PO ACks. If I recall, there is an element in the IDOC that
indicates if it is the original (ie for an 855) or the 2nd.n for an 865.

Regarding efficiency. It depends on the importance, lead-time, and scarcity
of the part. For 95% of parts, it probably does not make a difference, but
could be a big deal if it is a critical and scarce part that would stop the
manufacturing line.

Hi all, I want to get a feel from the group members about generating
multiple PO Acks for the same PO. We have a customer who wants a PO Ack to
be sent every time we touch the PO in our backend system (SAP) Our business
process allows us to send only one PO Ack for the PO. Can you please share
your comments on this topic? Can SAP generate multiple PO Acks for the same
PO (everytime we make change to PO, a new PO Ack has to be generated).
>From a business process point of view, how efficient is it to send multiple
PO Acks for the same PO?
Thanks in advance for your help.Have a good day!!!
