A VAN is more than just "quicker testing"... a VAN offers archive and
restore services, data conversion (eg delimiters), audit and traffic
reporting, additional mailslots (eg a 'test' mailbox), tech support....
.. well, a DECENT VAN will, anyway.
'Cost per character' is not the be-all and end-all of "value."
