PURPOSE Under general supervision, designs and develops business requirements by providing analysis of current state and future business needs by working with users. Combines a strong understanding of business systems and the industry to document requirements, and assists in functional design specifications for assigned area of emphasis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Participates in design sessions and provides subject matter expertise in functional areas, building consensus and ensuring business involvement and buy-in. 2. Provides direction on future business lines and guidance on design that can support these processes and drives a “forward thinking” environment. 3. Analyzes system design to ensure alignment to business objectives. Recommends if and when a “workaround” is acceptable and/or customization is required for software gaps and leads the team in designing the system accordingly. 4. Develops business design specifications for reports, forms, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and custom capabilities, in collaboration with technical business analysts. 5. Approves development of user documentation and training materials ensuring concerns, comments and any feedback is processed and addressed in a meaningful and consistent manner. 6. Conducts all phases of testing by clarifying requirements, researching detailed issues, and defining solutions in support of project requirements and system architectural design. 7. Prepares appropriate project management reports and provides explanations for delays and/or makes recommendations for improvement. 8. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures. 9. Other duties may be assigned. COMPETENCIES · Working knowledge of business implications on applications of technology to current business environments · Strong interviewing and group facilitation skills · Established strategic and critical analysis skills · Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or a related field and six (6) years experience in business analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
