For those of you not on the Medicare DME (Durable Medical Equipment) mailing
list... and kind of related to the thread of the last couple of days
regarding paper claims forms and National Standard Format 'flat' files....

.. you might find this mailing I got this AM of interest....

" Beginning October 1, 2011, CEDI will no longer accept requests for new
Trading Partners to be setup for 4010A1 or 5.1 transaction formats. New
Trading Partners will only be allowed to be setup in the 5010A1 or D.0
transaction formats. Additionally, current Trading Partners will no longer
be able to setup new transactions in the 4010A1/5.1 format. They will need
to setup any additional transaction requests in the 5010A1/D.0 version
format."

That said. there are some of us still around who remember the FIRST "HIPAA
deadline"... October 1, 2001.... postponed twice and ultimately did not go
into effect until October 1 2002.  (Your tax dollars at work).

(I remebber that well because those delays cost me a lot of money in 2002 -
I *was* ready and had 'tooled up' for the rush, and had little else to sell
that year!)
