Vijay you want to do that in smaller chunks. You will not be able to re-import
data in chunks larger than 6MB per file unless you use the bulk loader. I like
to put them in groups, all my envelopes in one, BP's in another and I always
check that they save out at less than 6MB each. Maps are the largest so I end
up with many sets of maps to keep them under that limit.
You want to be absolutely sure you can re-import and use that archive you saved
before you delete the original system. I have seen people export it all in one
chunk and then not be able to import it like they thought they would and they
are sunk. Make sure you test your plans before you get rid of the old system.
This is why I like using VM's for SI. I do a fresh install on a new VM with my
new version and call it my new test environment, export all my production
objects and then attempt to parallel all processes (except the actual partner
communication steps) in the test environment for about 10 days. You would be
amazed at the little things you might have missed and need to go back to the
prod system to get. When its all good I have the network team clone the test
VM, take down prod and then bring up the new clone with the same server IP and
name as the old prod.
