I agree with Ken that you should give GXS a call.  However, for a test or dev
server the license fee is around $2,000 and this allows you to use the #
parties and transformations you have licensed in the production environment.

I would recommend giving GXS support a call.

There are several questions here, the first of which is licensing.  All of the
software is sold by license and obviously since you are looking to do more than
just make a copy of the data, you need to make sure you are in compliance with
the licensing agreement for your specific business arrangement with GXS.

You may also want to check into using virtual services, (i.e. VMware) to
actually implement your test environment.   This may also allow you to share
your test needs for EDI with other IT needs throughout the company (i.e. backup
or test SQL server, backup or test accounting system, etc.).

Other than that, I'll relinquish the floor to those who may have more
experience with this area.   But ultimately you should make a call to GXS
support, regardless of what feedback you get here.

I am looking for a method by which I can Clone my existing BizLink, Data, and
Maps (BizMapper). Then place this copy of the system on a separate server. The
idea is to create a temporary test area that, for a moment, will be identical
to production. Then when it is time to Upgrade to the latest version
/release... and migrate my data and maps... I can do a dry run or two to make
sure my understanding of the procedure instructions are clear and I do not find
myself at a prompt without an answer. This process might also apply for
Disaster recovery.
