S/FTP can also be configured to use individual partner digital

I think S/FTP is used to describe two global standards; SFTP (FTP over
SSH, which is a protocol resembling conventional FTP with a very
different internal implementation) and FTPS, which is conventional FTP
over SSL/TLS. My professional cryptographer stepson tells me that SFTP
is more secure.

In my opinion AS2 is preferable to SFTP because of the implementation of
MDN's. It is true that 997's provide an acknowledgement function, but
you are occasionally going to find that a trading partner claims that
they have not received a file when your records show that you sent it
successfully over S/FTP. If using AS2 the MDN provides proof of receipt.

Having said this, S/FTP tends to be cheaper and easier to implement,
which can be significant for small, non-technical trading partners.

Chris
